This road trip itinerary takes you through the Finger Lakes Wine Country in New York State where you can try the best award winning wines in the United States!
Keuka Lake Wineries
I recommend trying the top wine at Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery including the cabernet franc or pinot noir & Hunt Country Vineyards offers ice wines & sustainable winemaking.
Take time to explore the charming town of Penn Yan and if you're into pretty views, drive to the Garrett Memorial Chapel for a quick visit.
Seneca Lakes
Yates County
Try a special treat at Seneca Farms and you can also go apple picking at Apple Barrel Orchards. I highly recommend a tour with Finger Lakes Rail Riders.
Ask for the ghost wine at Miles Wine Cellars. Barnstormer Winery has an excellent dry red wine. The family-run Shtayburne Farm Creamery has cheese & ice cream flights!
The Watkins Glen Gorge Trail is a must! This trail is 1.5 miles one-way and passes through a stunning gorge filled with waterfalls. Please note it does have over 800 stairs.
Watkins Glen State Park
Montour Falls
This cute town has a waterfall you can see from Main Street & the tasting room at Finger Lakes Distilling has gin or brandy made with local grains and red grapes.
The historic Gaffer District is incredibly cute and the Corning Museum of Glass is the largest glass museum in the world. You can even make your own glass.
See local wildlife at the Tanglewood Nature Center, then spend time tracing Mark Twain history. You can also make a stop at the National Soaring Museum or try Axe throwing.
Chemung County
If you feel like it's a crime to go a day in the Finger Lakes wine region without wine, head to Finger Lakes House; they offer world class wines on a patio overlooking the river.
