On my trip to Portugal, I focused the majority of my time on Lisbon and Porto! I opted not to rent a car and instead used public transportation.
When visiting Portugal, make a little time to see each unique city. I recommend starting in Lisbon and making your way to the gorgeous Alfama neighborhood.
2 Days in Lisbon
Alfama
Here you can see medieval castles, the Lisbon Cathedral, and the Fado Museum. Then, you can visit the manicured lawns toward the Tagus River at Parque Eduardo VII.
Day Tour In Sinatra
This mountain town is definitely worth the visit! I suggest starting at Pena Palace and then exploring the gardens at Quinta da Regaleira.
Booking a guided tour to see all that Belem has to offer is a great idea. Be sure not to miss Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to the 16th century!
This is an incredibly cute and historic town, famous for being surrounded by a fortified wall. You can spend the afternoon walking along the wall, shopping, and sipping Ginja.
Half Day In Óbidos
Porto
There is plenty to see in Porto. I recommend a walk along the Cais da Ribeira, or the waterfront right along the Douro River in the oldest part of the city.
A trip to northern Portugal isn't complete without a visit to Douro Valley. Enjoy the famous Port wines, lunch, and gorgeous scenery on a tour of these grape-producing wine regions.
If you're into Harry Potter or unique architecture, I recommend starting your day at Livraria Lello, a bookstore from the 1800s. Then in the evening, try a vintage food tour.
